Registered Nurse (Psychiatry) (AM, PM and NOC Shift)

About the Role

Provide general and psychiatric nursing care to adults with emotional or psychiatric disorders. Interventions include promoting and fostering health, assessing dysfunction, assisting patients to regain or improve coping abilities, maximizing patient strengths, and preventing further disability. Focus areas include health promotion, health maintenance, monitoring patients and self-care activities, managing psycho-biological treatment regimens, triage decisions, and facilitating patient movement into appropriate services.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's physical, psychological, self-care, educational, and anticipated discharge planning needs.
  • Develops a comprehensive outline of care to attain expected outcomes, including specific goals and interventions unique to each patient.
  • Maintains effective communication with all units and departments.
  • Supervises direct patient care as required.
  • Carries out medication management responsibilities.
  • Conducts patient community meetings.
  • Provides input into the discharge planning process.
  • Maintains patient and unit-related documentation.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for patients.

Skills

  • Demonstrates sound leadership skills and critical thinking.
  • Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population.
  • Familiarity with psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications in the adult psychiatric population.
  • Basic teaching and training skills; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification for Healthcare Providers – American Heart Association.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse (PMHN) certification highly preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of RN psychiatric experience highly preferred.

Pay

$50/hr. to $67/hr.

Schedule

Full Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)

Part Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)
