Registered Nurse - Psych Acute

About the role

Department: Psych Adult. Shift: Full-Time; Days; 7a-7:30p. Facility: Mercy Medical Center. Location: Aurora, IL.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
• Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
• Run therapeutic groups and perform psychiatric crisis intervention.
• Implement seclusion and restraint of patients as needed.
• Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
• Assist with diagnostic tests, analyze results, and operate medical machinery.
• Administer treatment and medications.
• Support patient follow‑up and rehabilitation.
• Teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self‑administration of medication and physical therapy.
• Other related duties.

Qualifications

• Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Pay

Compensation estimate: $35.35 to $53.08 per hour (includes wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation). Exact starting compensation determined at hire based on skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Full‑time, Days shift, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
