Registered Nurse-PRN

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care in a correctional setting, collaborating with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans, and ensuring compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by conducting initial medical screenings and assessments, administering prescribed medications, treatments, and medical interventions, and monitoring patient progress.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to address patient care issues and improve health outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and correctional facility staff regarding treatment plans, health education, and health-related concerns.
• Assume leadership roles in the absence of higher-level management, including overseeing day-to-day operations of the nursing team and ensuring proper patient care delivery.
• Supervise and assist LPNs and nursing assistants in patient care tasks, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and best practices.
• Ensure medical equipment and supplies are appropriately stocked, maintained, and functioning properly; report any issues to facility management.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and clinical outcomes within the facility.

Requirements

• A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate, and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role.
• A High School diploma or GED.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment.
• Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.
• Active CPR/BLS certificate required.

Schedule

Shifts are committed three shifts per month, including one weekend shift.

Pay

Compensation is competitive and includes a bonus program.
