About the role

The role involves direct care for adults with various conditions, requiring the incumbent to manage non-professional staff and use equipment for patient care. The incumbent must also communicate with multiple healthcare professionals and manage patient care effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing nursing diagnoses
  • Providing health education and procedural teaching to patients and their families
  • Administering and evaluating pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens
  • Administering medicine and injections
  • Establishing priorities and making ethical decisions to ensure safe patient care
  • Assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Performing diagnostic studies within the scope of nursing practice
  • Documenting patient data
  • Collaborating with other health care professionals
  • Communicating with veterans and family members regarding veteran’s care
  • Maintaining charge nurse duties
  • Managing follow-up care
  • Acting as a resource to others
  • Participating in continuing educational activities

Requirements

The incumbent must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Preferred experience includes 3-5 years of acute care, medical/surgical experience.

Qualifications

  • Basic Written and Spoken English proficiency
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by an accrediting agency
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional professional nursing experience for Nurse III
