About the role

The Perioperative Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless surgical experience for patients and their families. You will provide exceptional care and support during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) phases, collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional patient care and family support throughout all surgical phases.
  • Assist physicians and the healthcare team with equipment, supplies, and support in the Pre-Op and PACU areas.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and patient satisfaction.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and quality enhancement programs.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and cooperation.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, providing timely updates to the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Educate patients and their families about pre-operative and post-operative care, providing clear and concise information.
  • Document patient care accurately and maintain comprehensive medical records.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required upon hire or transfer.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications are necessary, as designated by specialty.
  • Prior experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is desirable; training will be provided for this skill.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 pounds, and walk short distances quickly.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
