About the role
We are hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for PreOp and PACU at a facility specializing in Plastics, Ortho, Podiatry, Spine, Pain, GI, and Ophthalmic service lines. The RN will be trained for both Pre-Op and PACU roles. The facility operates from 0600 to 1800, with the position requiring (3) 8-hour shifts per week, including one late shift. BLS certification is required, and ACLS is preferred. Training will be provided upon hire if needed. The facility uses EPIC EMR.
Responsibilities
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
- Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic, pain, comfort, and mental status.
- Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
- Describe the underlying pathophysiology of common disease processes and the physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions.
- Apply relevant scoring systems/discharge criteria (e.g., Aldrete Score, PARSAP, PADSS, White) accurately.
- Develop and implement an individualized perianesthesia plan of care, including:
- Managing patient recovery from general, monitored anesthesia care, regional, and local anesthesia.
- Protecting patients from injury related to positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects.
- Communicating patient status throughout the perianesthesia continuum.
- Providing acute pain and comfort management.
- Administering medications safely using the 8-rights of medication administration.
- Maintaining wound integrity and tissue perfusion.
- Ensuring patient systems (genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological) and fluid/electrolyte balances are at or above baseline.
- Returning the patient to normothermia post-operatively.
- Protecting patients from infection.
- Managing co-morbid conditions and fluids as prescribed.
- Assess and educate patients or designated support persons on expected responses, pain management, wound care, and rehabilitation.
- Involve patients or support persons in perioperative decisions.
- Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards.
- Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and transfer care as needed.
- Provide accurate, concise hand-off reports to teammates.
- Delegate tasks according to state Nurse Practice Act and facility policies.
- Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.
- Collaborate with other disciplines as needed.
- Participate in quality review, performance improvement projects, and performance appraisals.
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective teamwork.
- Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.
- Act as a patient advocate, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- One year of Pre-Operative or PACU experience required; medical/surgical nursing experience accepted.
- Current state RN licensure in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred (required within 90 days if not currently certified).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 90 days if pediatric care is within the facility’s scope of services.
Pay
USD $35.00/Hr. – USD $50.00/Hr.

Schedule
