About the role

Shoreline Vision Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team. Located in Muskegon, MI, the ASC is open Monday-Friday from 6:30am-5:30pm. Shifts may vary based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Absorbs, prioritizes, plans, and implements patient care in an effective manner.
  • Supervises and assists Scrub Nurses as needed.
  • Positions patients, prepares the operative area, and adjusts tables to proper positions.
  • Maintains count on sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure no loss of items.
  • Opens sterile packs and supplies using aseptic technique.
  • Assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other personnel as needed.
  • Reviews surgeon's preference cards for desired medications and verifies with the surgeon.
  • Cares for specimens and cultures as directed by established policies and procedures.
  • Accompanies patients to PACU and provides a report to the post-op nurse.
  • Assists in controlling and maintaining supplies and equipment.
  • Records use of equipment and methods directed.
  • Checks rooms, materials, and equipment for proper care and handling.
  • Ensures a clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety and aseptic techniques.
  • Assists in controlling traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required in the state where the worksite is located.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors.

  • Absenteeism is minimal.
  • Attendance: Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences. Observes assigned work schedules and hours.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands.
  • Visual and auditory acuity including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
