REGISTERED NURSE PER DIEM

Job Summary

The RN maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise. This role demonstrates core and specific competencies based on care required for the pre/post-operative patient population served for the Specialty Surgeons of Connecticut Practice.

Essential Functions

• Captures and documents a plan of care for patients and families for pre and post-operative visits.
• Documents and demonstrates teaching/learning needs of patients and families for pre and post-operative visits.
• Documents all relevant case and patient information in EMR.
• Utilizes knowledge of nursing, research, and evidenced-based practice in the application of care and clinical judgment.
• Responds appropriately to urgent/emergent situations.
• Administers medication according to the medication administration policy.
• Integrates the standards of excellence into daily clinical practice.
• Ensures compliance with written policies, procedures, and standards of practice/care.
• Maintains licensure and current registration.
• Maintains mandatory certification, and competency including but not limited to annual review, BLS, etc.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing required
• BS in Nursing preferred
• Registered Professional Nurse, New York State License and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN
• At least 2 years of RN experience in the Emergency Department experience required
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems (Medium proficiency)
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral (Medium proficiency)
• OHS Fit Test Required
• OHS Annual Assessment Required
• Certification in specialty upon hire preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Training upon hire required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Training upon hire required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training upon hire required
• Infection Control & Barrier Precaution Training upon hire required
