Registered Nurse - Outpatient Procedures Department - Per Diem

About the role

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe, VT, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Procedures Department (OPD). The OPD team cares for diverse patient populations undergoing outpatient procedures such as colonoscopies, endoscopies, minor surgical procedures, and cardioversions. Nurses provide pre-procedural, intra-procedural, and post-procedural care, with strong emphasis on communication and patient teaching. Responsibilities include administering conscious sedation for select patient populations and supporting anesthesia colleagues for others. The RN assumes leadership duties, including delegation to other team members, and ensures compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies. This is a Per Diem position with availability for Full-Time and Part-Time roles; various shifts are available.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates unit-specific skills and integrates knowledge for the patient populations served, applying expected norms in planning interventions.
• Meets Copley Hospital standards related to telephone etiquette, customer service, comportment, inter- and intra-departmental relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient and provider rights, UOR reporting, quality improvement, and Code of Conduct.
• Develops and maintains human-centered care relationships; integrates the influence of health, illness, and healing experiences.
• Adapts care for diverse populations, assists colleagues with care delivery, and refers concerns to appropriate resources.
• Incorporates patient and family teaching into care delivery; assesses barriers to learning and uses colleagues as learning resources.

• Applies leadership skills to coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team, communicates directly, and verbalizes scope of practice for self and others.

• Participates in continuing education and mandatory programs to maintain competence and gain additional skills; documents attendance and completes annual reviews and training (e.g., Healthstream topics, BLS renewal).

• Applies critical thinking and integrates data from multiple sources; communicates accurately and timely with patients, team members, and management.
• Identifies and applies age-specific safety needs in disaster/evacuation, patient transfers, minimizing security risks, restraints/immobilization devices, and equipment use.
• Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all nursing care interactions: medical asepsis, physical assessment, monitoring, pain management, reporting, therapeutic interventions, medication administration, IV line management, plan-of-care evaluation and revision, procedures, and medical technology.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree (or certification equivalent)
• Current Vermont RN licensure
• ACLS certification required
• Conscious sedation experience preferred

Pay

Compensation range: $32.09–$54.81/hour. The posted salary range reflects base compensation for candidates with varying levels of experience; an offer within this range may be presented based on experience.
