The Role
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to support the clinic's goals of providing each patient with a positive experience while receiving quality comprehensive eye care from the providers.
Responsibilities
- Provides ongoing assessment and nursing care to patients in the facility in accordance with Physician’s orders, policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of practice.
- Collaborates with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Provides circulating assistance during surgical procedures for various surgeons that operate at the facility.
- Supports and maintains a safe patient care environment.
- Ensures that the Operating Rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Prepares surgery suite for surgical procedures.
- Fulfills universal precautions in the use of PPE.
- Individualizes patient care according to patient’s health status and surgery/procedure being performed.
- Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards.
- Recognizes situations (patient, staff, visitor, and physician) and significant assessment findings that require verbal or written communication and follow through to the appropriate people.
- Maintains surgery inventory and notifies appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed.
- Participates in identifying and developing the performance improvement focus and criteria.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED certificate recipient.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Active RN license in the state where work will be conducted.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Current surgical experience (within past 3 years).
- Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
- Demonstrates primary nurse accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.
- Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.
- Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care.
- Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
- Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized, and cost-effective manner.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment.
