About the role
The Registered Nurse-OR position at our facility provides care through the nursing process, focusing on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of surgical patients.
Responsibilities
- Achieves patient care through assessment, diagnosis, and planning.
- Affirms patient and family goals that are mutually acceptable.
- Communicates and reports pertinent information to relevant staff for continuity of care.
- Documents patient information legibly in the patient record and signs the record appropriately.
- Assesses patient's physiological and psychosocial health status.
- Completes patient history and assesses pain according to policy.
- Identifies desired patient outcomes and establishes nursing diagnoses.
- Implements care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Adapts care plans based on patient data.
- Ensures proper preoperative processes, including communication and reporting.
- Performs surgical case counting and documentation accurately.
- Practices aseptic techniques and demonstrates efficient turnover time.
- Verifies patient identification and performs surgical site identification and marking correctly.
- Anticipates and responds to surgeon’s needs during procedures.
- Participates in a professional nursing organization.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse License.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Minimum six months of OR experience, with preference for scrubbing and circulating.
