About the role

The Registered Nurse-OR position at our facility provides care through the nursing process, focusing on preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of surgical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves patient care through assessment, diagnosis, and planning.
  • Affirms patient and family goals that are mutually acceptable.
  • Communicates and reports pertinent information to relevant staff for continuity of care.
  • Documents patient information legibly in the patient record and signs the record appropriately.
  • Assesses patient's physiological and psychosocial health status.
  • Completes patient history and assesses pain according to policy.
  • Identifies desired patient outcomes and establishes nursing diagnoses.
  • Implements care plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Adapts care plans based on patient data.
  • Ensures proper preoperative processes, including communication and reporting.
  • Performs surgical case counting and documentation accurately.
  • Practices aseptic techniques and demonstrates efficient turnover time.
  • Verifies patient identification and performs surgical site identification and marking correctly.
  • Anticipates and responds to surgeon’s needs during procedures.
  • Participates in a professional nursing organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse License.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Minimum six months of OR experience, with preference for scrubbing and circulating.
