Registered Nurse or Paramedic -Cath Lab – AHH (FT – 4 /10’s or 3/12’s)

About the Role

The RN-Critical/Paramedic performs assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates patient care. This role administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, directs and monitors care provided by non-licensed personnel, and leads the interdisciplinary care team for patients with primarily cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the RN-Critical/Paramedic performs technical services, including patient specimen testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance under laboratory direction.

Responsibilities

• Documents findings and communicates pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members.
• Provides direct care, ensuring a safe and comforting environment for high patient satisfaction.
• Assists healthcare team members in understanding hospital policies and procedures.
• Educates patients, families, and significant others, incorporating population-specific criteria.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to standard precautions.
• Administers medications and completes treatments according to hospital policy.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary team responses to emergency situations.
• Performs Point-of-Care procedures in a timely manner, complying with quality control standards.

Department-Specific Responsibilities (Cath / EP Lab)

• Performs patient assessments pre-, peri-, and post-procedure.
• Maintains a safe, aseptic environment in the Cath Lab.
• Administers medications as ordered by the physician.
• Maintains knowledge of all procedures and adheres to protocol.
• Assists personnel, patients, and physicians as needed.
• Ensures all supplies are available and equipment is in good working order.
• Participates in department maintenance and ensures patient H & P documentation by a physician prior to procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a Nursing Compact state.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to direct patient care.
• ACLS certification required by completion of clinical orientation.
• PALS or ENPC certification required for Emergency Department RNs within one year of employment.
• RCIS required for Cath/EP Lab RNs within two years of eligibility; Limited Specialty License required within six months of acquiring RCIS (excluding PRN employees).
• Certifications must be renewed by the recommended renewal date.
