Registered Nurse - OR Circulator for Outpatient Surgery

About the Role

This PRN position requires travel between multiple outpatient surgery centers in the Phoenix East Valley. You will float to various facilities, working Monday through Friday with no weekends or call. We ask for a minimum commitment of 4 shifts per month, offering flexible scheduling through easy-to-use software and a dedicated staffing office. The role assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
  • Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
  • Formulate and revise a plan of care based on assessment data, patient/family input, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; adjust the plan as needed.
  • Document all aspects of care (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) accurately and timely in the patient record.
  • Provide care based on best evidence and participate in quality improvement activities, including professional organizations.
  • Participate in education, orientation, and mentoring of staff, patients, students, and families.
  • May serve as relief charge nurse, overseeing department workflow and staff.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing (or higher) required.
  • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or compact licensure).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned to pediatric ASC services.
  • For PRN: Minimum two years of licensed RN experience in the OR.
  • For Core (FT/PT): Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in OR (other procedural areas considered with approval). Newly licensed RNs enrolled in the PeriOp101 program must complete it within 4 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional OR or perioperative licensed RN experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
  • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond to patient care needs.
  • Adequate hearing, visual acuity (including color vision), and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to grasp, handle objects, and use proper body mechanics for patient transfers.
  • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking (in person or by telephone).
  • Periodic use of computers, phones, and general office equipment.
