About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a great team of nurses and allied health professionals in a supportive and innovative environment, providing quality care to consumers aged 65 years or older with mental illness in an inpatient setting at the Older Persons Inpatient Mental Health Unit, St George Hospital. The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality nursing care consistent with SESLHD and St George Mental Health Service policies, procedures, and standards.

This part-time (20 hours per week) opportunity is designed to support a strong work-life balance, with flexible working arrangements, reduced hours, and the ability to structure your week around personal commitments. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality nursing care to patients/clients of the St George Mental Health Service.
  • Proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and guide others in providing service excellence.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in mental health at a postgraduate level, including assessment and management of risk within the mental health environment.
  • Demonstrate understanding of recovery principles and commitment to consumer, family, and carer participation in consumer-focused care.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality patient care in mental health at a postgraduate level.
  • Proven experience in the provision of care, assessment, and management of risk within the mental health environment.

Pay

$41.23 - $57.88 per hour, plus superannuation.
