Registered Nurse - Operating Room First Assist

About the role

This role provides intra-operative assistance to the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons and healthcare professionals to perform advanced nursing care during surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative assessments
• Provide intra-operative technical support, including handling instruments, tissue management, and suturing
• Conduct post-operative patient evaluation
• Prepare the operating room and assist with patient positioning
• Ensure sterile techniques are maintained
• Support anesthesia administration and patient transfer
• Adhere to practice standards and maintain effective communication with the surgical team
• Maintain licensure and continuing education requirements

Requirements

• At least two years of peri-operative experience or one year as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
• Certification from an AORN-recognized RNFA program
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Nurse Operating Room certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Additional years of RNFA practice experience
