Registered Nurse Operating Room

Position Summary

The Department Job Description Summary: Experienced Operating Room Nurse 5x8s.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the OR suite appropriately to receive a new admission.
• Greets the patient upon arrival and initiates hemodynamic monitoring.
• Evaluates, assesses and documents patient's surgical status. Reports abnormal findings to physician and documents pre/post-op counts.
• Aids anesthesia in maintaining intake and output, checks availability of blood products and checks blood products with anesthesia before administering. Documents blood administration and assures accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability to handle difficult situations dealing with conflict in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates appropriate safety measures as it relates to potential radiation exposure.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of operation, care and handling of O.R. equipment.
• Demonstrates ability to perform new procedures, skills, and routines in specialty areas.

Requirements

• License/Registration/Certification: O.R. RNs: Current RN Licensure in the state of FL, BLS required and CNOR preferred for OR nurses. Ambulatory RNs: Current RN Licensure in the state of FL, BLS required and CNOR preferred for OR nurses. PACU RNs (Main PACU & Ambulatory PACU): Current RN Licensure in the state of FL, BLS, and ACLS required for PACU RNs only, and CPAN and/or CAPA preferred for Peri-Anesthesia nurses. Pre-testing RN’s do not need ACLS or PALS. These RNs are incorporated in Ambulatory.
• Education: Graduated from an accredited school of Nursing. BSN preferred.
• Experience: Level III: Min 2 years in area of specialty.

Qualifications

• Current RN Licensure in the state of FL, BLS required and CNOR preferred for OR nurses.
• PACU RNs (Main PACU & Ambulatory PACU): Current RN Licensure in the state of FL, BLS, and ACLS required for PACU RNs only, and CPAN and/or CAPA preferred for Peri-Anesthesia nurses.
