Registered Nurse Operating Room
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, you’ll have staffing support, technology, and resources to deliver safe, high-quality care. This role offers self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance, a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, continuous investment in equipment, and opportunities to provide input on patient care and surgical workflow improvements. On-call is required during select non-business hours.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients prior to surgery
- Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
- Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
- Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team—consisting of providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and more
- Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly
- Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow-up measures
Requirements
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required (compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation)
- 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred
- Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree; BSN is preferred
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start
- American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required within 6 months of employment start date
- Minimum 1 year previous perioperative experience
- CNOR preferred
- PALS-American Heart Association PALS Provider issued card required within 6 months

About the Facility
HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is a 221-bed acute care hospital serving the communities of Seminole and West Volusia County. We are a Level II Trauma Center and provide the only full-service cardiovascular program in the area, offering open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and comprehensive diagnostic services. Additional services include orthopedic and spine care, robotic surgery, acute inpatient medical rehabilitation, and complete imaging services.
