This role plans for, delivers, documents, and evaluates nursing care of patients in an assigned area according to their individual needs, provider’s orders, and recognized nursing standards. Directs activities of assigned nursing personnel and maintains accurate, timely documentation reflecting the patient’s condition, treatment, and response to care. Responsibilities

• Deliver and evaluate nursing care tailored to individual patient needs in accordance with provider’s orders and nursing standards.
• Direct and oversee the activities of assigned nursing personnel in patient care.
• Observe, assess, and report on patient conditions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care, including patient condition, treatment, and response.
• Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Thorough knowledge of nursing theory and practice, including biological, physical, psychosocial, and medical sciences.
• Thorough knowledge of the use and care of instruments, equipment, and supplies related to nursing service or ambulatory medical practice.
• Thorough knowledge of the theory and principles of medical asepsis.
• Ability to maintain positive working relations with other employees and medical staff.
• High degree of physical coordination and finger-hand dexterity.

PRN and Float Staff must have a minimum of one year (or as determined by the specific clinical unit) of recent experience in their area of clinical interest.

All clinical nurses must possess or acquire, within a defined period following placement, all unit-specific competencies, including:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA
• Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) – AHA
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN and certification.
• Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT): Step-down experience.
• Operating Room: One year of OR experience; Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• Post Procedure Care Unit: One year of PACU or critical care experience.
• Psychiatry: One year of prior psychiatric experience.
• Radiology: Five years of critical care experience; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab: Two years of prior experience in cardiac-pulmonary nursing (outpatient or inpatient), including experience with smoking cessation, wellness, and exercise in special populations (e.g., diabetes, obesity, arthritis).
• TB Clinic: Public health or TB experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Prior supervisory or project management experience.

Physical Requirements

• May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day.
• May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Must see and hear in the normal visual and audio ranges with or without correction.
• Ability to lift 250–300 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
• Exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
