Job Summary
The radiation oncology staff nurse is responsible and accountable for the nursing care provided to an assigned caseload of patients treated with radiation therapy in the radiation therapy department. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. The radiation oncology nurse is responsible for patient education, physical assessment, nutrition counseling and assisting physicians with exams and procedures. Participates in companywide quality initiatives.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Formal Education, Certification/Licensure and Prior Experience:
- be a graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education
- have current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state
- have current BCLS certification
- have current ACLS certification (role specific)
- experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of medications in the treatment of cancer
- maintain continuing education requirements
- current or pending Oncology Certification preferred
