Registered Nurse NSOPS
This position provides patient care in the general clinic and specialty areas of psychiatry, urgent care, and gynecology at the Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC), a primary care medical clinic for USF students. SHWC offers medical evaluation and care by appointment, with specialty services including sexual health & gynecology, dermatology, behavioral health, sports medicine, travel medicine, and antigen clinic. On-site pharmacy and lab services are available. The center also assists students with immunization and insurance compliance and administers the student health insurance plan.
Responsibilities
- Perform telephone and walk-in triage of patients, determining level of care required and facilitating medical treatment, referral, and follow-up care as needed.
- Follow up on phone calls, complete health forms, assist with lab results reporting, and complete reportable disease forms.
- Manage nursing fax folder, complete prior authorizations, and assist with medication refills per protocol.
- Review nurse line reports as needed.
- Provide general nursing care to patients in urgent care, general medicine, psychiatry, and sexual health/gynecology clinics, including administration of medication/IV therapy and phlebotomy.
- Serve as primary floor supervisor for the Health Clinic, providing consultation and guidance to licensed practical nurses (LPN) and medical assistants (MA).
- Monitor medication inventory, infection disease rounds, assist with Quality Studies, and monitor/log AED protocol.
- Monitor staff assignments.
- Complete PSO for all ER transfers and follow up per protocol; report PSO reports to Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in compliance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Chapter 64 B9, Florida Administrative Code.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Licensure as a registered nurse in Florida or eligibility to practice nursing in Florida.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS and IV certification.
- Competency in phlebotomy.
- At least five years of nursing experience in primary care, urgent care, college health, or inpatient hospital setting.
