Responsibilities
The Emergency Department nurse provides professional nursing care during the initial phase of acute illness or trauma for patients of all ages. Key duties include:
- Triage and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system
- Assess the needs of each patient quickly and prioritize care based on critical nature
- Work to stabilize the patient and initiate treatment
- Discharge the patient after the emergency is over or make arrangements for a longer hospital stay
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN-approved program (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
- Previous nursing experience (Preferred)
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Missouri (Required)
- BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire (Required)
- ACLS must be obtained within one year of hire (Required)
- PALS must be obtained within one year of hire (Required)
- ENPC must be obtained within 12 months of hire (Required for Primary RN in emergent pediatric care; RN will not be Primary RN if certification lapses)
- TNCC must be obtained within 12 months of hire (Required for Primary RN in trauma care; RN will not be Primary RN if certification lapses)

Pay
- $1.00 certification pay
