Registered Nurse – Night Shift

Full-Time/Part-Time night-shift role providing medical care and support to clients in detox and residential treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to clients during overnight hours, including comprehensive assessments (vitals, withdrawal symptoms, risk evaluations).
  • Administer medications per physician orders, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Monitor clients for adverse reactions or changes in condition and take appropriate action.
  • Document all care in compliance with medical and legal standards.
  • Ensure client safety and security through regular room checks and emergency response.
  • Collaborate with the on-call medical team for urgent issues or care plan changes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Participate in shift change reports and communicate effectively with day staff.
  • Adhere to state/federal regulations (HIPAA, OSHA) and facility-specific policies.
  • Follow evidence-based practices and protocols for detox and substance use treatment.
  • Work closely with behavioral health staff, counselors, and medical providers to align nursing care with treatment goals.
  • Provide client education on medications, withdrawal symptoms, and overall health.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
  • Active and unrestricted RN license in Wisconsin.
  • CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
  • Preferred: Experience in detox, substance use treatment, behavioral health, or similar settings. New graduates with interest in addiction/mental health nursing are encouraged.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CARN, ACLS) are a plus.
