About the Role

The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, continuous, coordinated, and individualized nursing care to all MVMC patients. Must work collaboratively with all other ancillary medical departments and medical staff to deliver patient-centered care. Performs all duties in alignment with MVMC’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform focused assessments to provide effective patient care.
  • Accurately assess patient/family readiness to learn, organize and execute individualized teaching plans, and evaluate understanding.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, adapting as the patient’s condition changes.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including computerized and paper records, logs, and the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Perform additional nursing and hospital duties as necessary or requested.
  • Attend departmental meetings, training, and seminars as required.
  • Maintain appropriate attendance for shifts and on-call responsibilities.
  • Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Understand and adhere to MVMC policies and procedures, including the Nursing Process.
  • Utilize computers for basic functions (e.g., Time and Attendance, Email, Internet, EMR).
  • Act as a patient advocate, including family and patient teaching.
  • Maintain competency in providing safe, quality care and seek independent educational opportunities.
  • Adhere to high standards of personal and professional conduct.
  • Resolve workplace issues constructively and respond positively to change.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients and staff by following established procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Montana RN License (minimum requirement: Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred).
  • BLS certification (required upon hire).
  • ACLS and PALS certification (required within 6 months of hire).
  • TNCC and ENPC certification (required within one year of hire, depending on course availability).
  • Annual KnowBe4 trainings and N-95 mask fitting.
  • Basic PC skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of Medical/Surgical experience.
  • One year of Emergency Room (ER) experience.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Attend workshops, seminars, and educational sessions to stay updated on changes in assigned responsibilities.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Extensive standing and walking, with occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Strong close vision and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Some risk of radiation exposure and electrical shock.
  • Work environment is a clean hospital setting with quiet to moderate noise levels.
  • Frequent keyboarding and repetitive movements.

OSHA Category Classification

Category I: Employee will have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the performance of routine job duties.
