About the role
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 3 NICU with 49-bed unit for newborns born prematurely, needing specialized treatment, or being sick. An in-house neonatologist is available around the clock to provide the most advanced evidence-based care for our tiniest population. Babies in the NICU are cared for in state-of-the-art Giraffe OmniBeds, which are specialized isolettes and infant warmers all-in-one, reducing the stress on the baby. We take babies from 23(ish) weeks gestation to post-term babies.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive nursing services to newborn, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, including their families/caregivers.
- Works closely with the neonatal transport team to bring infants with serious illnesses, injuries, or complications to Renown Children's Hospital from outlying communities within a 200-mile radius of Reno.
Requirements
- Must have 1.5-2 years NICU experience to apply.
- We cover all northern NV area, including Lake Tahoe, Tonopah, Oregon, and Idaho borders.
Qualifications
- Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Nevada.
- Experience: At least one year of experience working under RN license preferred. Experience working in ICU and/or with pediatric populations preferred.
Skills
- Current BLS certification by The American Heart Association standards.
- American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, ENLS (Emergency Neuro Life Support), ENPC or PALS, TNCC, RNFA, APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider, OCN certification, RNFA, and chemotherapy/immunotherapy training.
