About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) at McKay-Dee Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to infants from 22 weeks gestational age and above. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, often in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Performs physical, social, and psychological assessments of patients.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Coordinates care with other health team members and educates patients and families as needed.
- Directs the care team and delegates tasks as necessary.
- Evaluates patient responses to interventions and revises care plans as needed.
- Promotes the nursing profession and participates in professional development.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Valid compact license must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
- BLS certification for healthcare providers.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire, or willingness to obtain one.
- One or more years of RN work experience in NICU preferred.
Skills
- Lactation support.
- Developmentally appropriate care.
- CPAP, conventional, and high-frequency ventilator use.
- Chest tube insertion.
- Central line placement.
- Iv therapy administration.
- Neonatal resuscitation.
