About the Role

The Nursing Graduate works under the direct line-of-sight supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in the clinical setting, participating in the patient care delivery process. This role orients to the RN assignment, excluding independent nursing care, and may participate in medication administration under the direction of a licensed RN. This position is available for up to 12 weeks while employees are in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and preparing for the State Boards examination to obtain an RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of the nursing process and how the patient plan of care is developed, implemented, and revised under RN supervision.
  • Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) and reports significant changes in patient condition, completing accurate documentation under RN supervision.
  • Observes and discusses prioritization of patient needs and the development/modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care under RN supervision.
  • Observes implementation of the patient plan of care, considering specialized patient needs (physical, emotional, social, age, ethnic origin, etc.) under RN supervision.
  • Reports patient responses to treatments and collaborates with the RN on modifying nursing interventions.
  • Participates in patient/family education under RN supervision, using other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within the defined role, routinely discussing care aspects with the RN.
  • Recognizes and demonstrates legal/ethical implications of care delivery, complying with regulatory standards and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Achieves RN licensure in a timely manner, completes orientation, and progresses through the Nursing Residency program.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see, read, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment/supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, especially in emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for manipulating complex equipment, frequent computer use, and typing.
  • Lifting and full range of movement to transfer patients, bend, retrieve, lift, and carry supplies/equipment.
  • Walking, assisting with patient transport, and navigating crowded areas.
  • Standing in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For driving roles: Sitting, seeing/reading signs, and operating a vehicle.

Pay

Nursing Graduate - Temporary License: $32.27/hour
Registered Nurse - Licensed: $35.22/hour

Full Time (36 hours per week), variable shifts
