Registered Nurse New Graduate Inpatient Rehabilitation

This position is for Nursing Graduates working under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical setting. The role involves participating in patient care delivery, excluding independent nursing care, and may include medication administration under RN supervision. This role is available for up to 12 weeks while employees are enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and preparing for the State Boards examination (RN licensure). After 12 weeks or upon failing the State Board exam a second time, the employee must transition to another role or face termination. Registered Nurse graduates must be enrolled in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program before providing direct patient care.

Position Details

This role is benefits-eligible and available in either part-time (24 hours per week, day shift) or full-time (36 hours per week, night shift) capacities. Weekends are alternating, and holidays are rotated among three groups. The position is located in the Inpatient Rehabilitation department at McKay Dee Hospital.

Pay

• Nursing Graduate (Unlicensed Entry): $32.27 per hour
• Registered Nurse (Licensed Entry): $35.22 per hour

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates understanding of the nursing process and patient plan of care development, implementation, and revision under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Assessment: Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs) under RN supervision, reports significant changes, and completes accurate documentation.
• Planning: Observes and discusses prioritization of patient needs with the RN and participates in developing/modifying the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Implementation: Observes the implementation of the patient plan of care, considering specialized needs such as physical, emotional, and social factors, age, and ethnic origin.
• Evaluation: Reports patient responses to treatments and collaborates with the RN to modify nursing interventions as needed.
• Participates in patient/family education under RN supervision, based on assessments, diagnosis, learning readiness, and requests.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for patient care delivery within their defined role, discussing all aspects of care with the RN.
• Recognizes legal/ethical implications of care delivery, complies with regulatory standards, completes accurate documentation, and maintains confidentiality.
• Aims to achieve RN licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and completes orientation, training, and the Nursing Residency program.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program (education will be verified).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see, read, and assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment/supplies.
• Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for complex equipment use, including computers for documentation and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift, bend, and transfer patients and supplies, including heavy items.
• Walking and assisting with patient transport, navigating crowded/busy environments.
• May require standing for extended periods or driving (if applicable).
