The New Graduate RN Residency Program at Banner Health has received the highest accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP).

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience (NNE) is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse. This program provides a collaborative learning environment where you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships. Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators.

We offer multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals, including specialty units, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or other sectors of nursing. The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to complete a full and comprehensive training experience. Most new nurses will work three 12-hour shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations, with a typical night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Requirements

  • Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred; ADN accepted at select locations)
  • Current BLS card (through American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
  • No more than 12 months of RN experience
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
  • Must live within a reasonable commute distance of the assigned facility

Unit Description

Our Emergency Department at Banner Baywood Medical Center is a 68-bed Level III Trauma Center. We are a Certified Center of Excellence for Stroke, Chest Pain, Fractured Hip, and Pediatrics, caring for both adult and pediatric patient populations. Our multidisciplinary team includes a Sr Nurse Manager, RNs, ED Techs, Paramedics, Case Management, Social Work, Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Patient Access Services, and Pharmacy, all dedicated to providing the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards.
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
  • Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
  • Formulate and implement a plan of care based on assessment data, patient/family input, and medical plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review and revise the plan of care as patient needs change.
  • Provide direct patient care, coordinate, delegate, and supervise activities of the healthcare team.
  • Promote continuity of care through accurate and complete communication with other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in accordance with policy.
  • Participate in shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of staff, patients, students, and families.
  • Contribute to professional growth through precepting, mentoring, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to support patient care.
  • Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification required; additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
  • Experience in the clinical area is desired but not required for new graduates.
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work.
  • For Behavioral Health roles serving children, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
  • For Home Health roles, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Professional certification in a relevant specialty preferred.
