About the role

The Mother Baby Care Unit at Wilcox Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nursery/Postpartum Nurse to join our team. This position offers opportunities to provide direct patient care and support to physician staff within our specialized unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to postpartum and neonatal patients.
  • Collaborate with physician staff to manage laboring and postpartum patients.
  • Administer IV therapy, monitor fetal and maternal vital signs, and provide diabetes education as needed.
  • Support families through the postpartum period, promoting bonding between mother and child.
  • Participate in team meetings and rounds to discuss patient care plans and concerns.
  • Assist with operating room duties as required.

Requirements

  • Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) CPR cards.
  • One (1) year recent acute care Registered Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery, including normal and high-risk obstetrical care.
  • One (1) year experience in Nursery, including normal and high-risk neonatal care preferred.
  • Completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 3 months.
  • Completion of S.T.A.B.L.E. (pre-transportation stabilization course for neonate) course recommended within 6 months.
  • Experience with care of postpartum patient and med/surg gynecologic patients preferred.
  • Experience with care of general med/surg patients preferred.
  • Experience with operating room circulating nurse duties preferred.
  • Experience with immediate post-surgical recovery care preferred.

Qualifications

Strong patient care and communication skills, willingness to work in a team-oriented atmosphere, and a commitment to delivering high-quality health care are essential qualities for this role.

Skills

Knowledge of postpartum and neonatal care protocols, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in operating room and post-surgical care procedures are desirable.
