About the role
Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Affirms patient care needs through assessment
- Organizes appropriate patient care plans
- Implements and evaluates patient care
- Maintains a safe environment
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Recognizes and responds to life-threatening situations
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams
- Maintains competency in required areas
- Monitors quality of care based on outcome-oriented indicators
- Participates in cost containment efforts
- Adjusts care based on age-specific needs
- Supports patients' cultural and spiritual practices
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Approved for RN II, RN III, RN IV Unit
- Completes Clinical Ladder packet
Qualifications
- Education and formal training: Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
- Licensure: Current RN license in North Carolina or equivalent
- Experience: None specifically listed, but experience with acute respiratory disorders, cardiac dysrhythmias, etc. is implied
Skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English

- Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
