Registered Nurse Medical Oncology Full Time Days

Full-time position with a schedule of 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, including rotating weekends.

About the Role

This role is within the CDH Medical Oncology (4A), a 26-bed specialized adult oncology/step-down unit affiliated with the NM Warrenville Cancer Center. The unit cares for patients 18 years of age and older, treating all cancer diagnoses. Responsibilities include administering inpatient chemotherapy, symptom management, palliative care, and end-of-life/hospice care. The unit features a highly engaged and supportive staff, working cohesively together with daily multidisciplinary care reliability rounds to enhance patient and family communication and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery, and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff.
• Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to care and delivery of services, ensuring communication with patients, families, and others.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualizes the plan of care based on findings.
• Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of the first day of employment in a clinical nurse role.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Strong analytic abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in Oncology highly preferred.
• Additional preferences for specialized certifications such as Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, or Certified Emergency Nurse (though not required for this role).
