Registered Nurse Medical Imaging

About the role

The Medical Imaging Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures. This position requires a commitment to high-quality care, utilizing evidence-based practices and collaborating closely with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for a variety of imaging procedures across different body parts (excluding the heart).
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and support staff, to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort by monitoring and evaluating patients before and after procedures.
• Educate patients about their procedures and address any questions or concerns.
• Participate in on-call rotations for emergency imaging procedures as required.

Requirements

• Current RN License in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and ACLS for healthcare providers.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
• Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Current RN license, BLS and ACLS certification, BSN degree.
• Preferred qualifications: Critical care experience, understanding of basic x-ray principles and practices.

Pay and Schedule

• Pay Rate: Competitive salary based on experience.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday 7AM-5:30PM - 10 hour shifts. Rotating on call requirements after hours, weekends/holidays.
