Summary
Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical, critical care, Dept. of Corrections, or Behavioral Health nursing
- Possesses strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, crisis intervention, substance abuse management, and telemetry monitoring
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
Unit Description
2 North is an 18-bed Medical/Telemetry and Behavioral Health unit consisting of Med/Tele patients with underlying behavioral issues. Staff work on a track schedule with a patient ratio of 1:6. Our Care Team includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, Unit Clerk, Resource/Charge Nurses, Patient Care Coordinator, Social Worker, Clinical Educator, and Nurse Manager. New Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply.
Work Experience
- Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical, critical care, Dept. of Corrections, or Behavioral Health nursing
- High level of empathy, attention to detail, and collaborative working with a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Effective organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients typically served
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
