Summary

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
  • Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical, critical care, Dept. of Corrections, or Behavioral Health nursing
  • Possesses strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, crisis intervention, substance abuse management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
  • Visual acuity for observation of patients
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds

Unit Description

2 North is an 18-bed Medical/Telemetry and Behavioral Health unit consisting of Med/Tele patients with underlying behavioral issues. Staff work on a track schedule with a patient ratio of 1:6. Our Care Team includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, Unit Clerk, Resource/Charge Nurses, Patient Care Coordinator, Social Worker, Clinical Educator, and Nurse Manager. New Graduate Nurses are encouraged to apply.

Work Experience

  • Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical, critical care, Dept. of Corrections, or Behavioral Health nursing
  • High level of empathy, attention to detail, and collaborative working with a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Effective organizational and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients typically served

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
