Department Overview

Our Minneapolis medical/surgical float team is an integral part of nursing services, providing valuable resources across the hospital system. Team members apply specific skill sets to four departments and offer additional support as needs arise. This role provides flexibility to work in different units while learning new skills daily. The float team is knowledgeable, resourceful, and adaptable, supporting multiple units with a commitment to teamwork, open communication, safety, and respect. The team fosters an environment that encourages learning and professional growth while delivering excellent, family-centered care. About the Role

Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents using the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice, including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members. This position will be scheduled across the Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses.

This is an MNA contract position.

Responsibilities

• Deliver family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients utilizing the nursing process.
• Perform independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Support multiple medical/surgical units as part of the float team.
• Incorporate the Comfort Promise to minimize procedural pain for patients.
• Uphold organizational values of teamwork, communication, safety, and respect.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Minnesota RN licensure.
• Current BLS certification.
• One (1) year of experience (within the last 2 years) working with a specialized patient population (e.g., Neurosciences, inpatient psychiatry).
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• An informational meeting with the Patient Care Manager is required prior to awarding the position.
• Additional certifications may be required based on the unit; must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

Pay

The posted salary represents a market-competitive range based on benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries are based on full-time employment (40 standard hours per week) and will be prorated for part-time positions. Individual pay rates consider factors such as market indicators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, internal equity, and organizational needs.
