Registered Nurse, Lactation Consultant- Full Time, Days, Maternity, 8A-4P, Morristown NJ

About the role

Provide evidence-based breastfeeding education, support, and counseling to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding families. Promote, protect, and support breastfeeding through direct patient care, staff education, policy development, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Assess breastfeeding needs, develop individualized feeding plans, and assist families in achieving their infant feeding goals while ensuring optimal maternal and infant outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, complete health care records and reports.
• Provide education regarding breast pump use, milk storage, and supplementation.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, doulas, and other healthcare professionals to support feeding goals.
• Monitor, report, and record symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
• Perform duties in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Assess, implement, plan, or evaluate patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
• Assist mothers with breastfeeding techniques, positioning, latch assessment, milk production concerns, and pumping strategies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant or working towards certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
• Master’s degree in nursing or related field (preferred).
• 1+ year of experience in a nursing-related field (Mother Baby, NICU, or L&D preferred).
