Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with state regulations, organizational policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Job Responsibilities Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact. Educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy. Shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices. Engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completes all mandatory education requirements. Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience Nursing (RN) experience of six (6) months - three (3) years. Management experience of zero (0) - three (3) years. Five plus (5) years of direct experience. Collaboration. Communication (verbal & written). Judgment/Critical Thinking. Preferred Skills & Experience Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. Schedule Notes Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, every third weekend. Block scheduling may be accommodated depending on current needs. We are looking for candidates with: Two or more years of experience in labor/delivery. Operating Room experience (circulating). High risk OB, able to perform vaginal exams. NRP certification. FM certification. ACLS certification. BLS certification.
