Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Responsibilities

• Maintains a high standard of professional conduct and ethical behavior.
• Provides comprehensive care to patients, addressing both physical and psychosocial needs.
• Administers medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse effects.
• Documents patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
• Evaluates patient progress and adjusts care plans accordingly.
• Identifies learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers about their health conditions and treatments.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• RN license in state of employment or compact.
• Current certification from AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Current NRP certification required.

Qualifications

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Precepted by a designated trained staff member and validated through organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation.
• Completion of annual competency verification requirements.
• Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a Perinatal Setting preferred.
• Experience in acute care clinical settings within the past three years is considered an Experienced Associate.
• Credential Grace Periods apply for new graduates and experienced associates.
