About the Role
The Registered Nurse provides independent, comprehensive care in a high-acuity obstetric setting, including labor, antepartum, and emergency departments. They assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, addressing emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. The nurse administers medications, monitors treatment effects, documents care, and educates patients and caregivers. Collaboration and delegation to care team members are essential to manage clinical situations effectively.
Responsibilities
- Deliver routine and complex obstetric nursing care following professional standards.
- Assess patient conditions, administer treatments, and monitor responses.
- Document patient histories, symptoms, and interventions accurately.
- Provide education tailored to patient and family needs.
- Assist in emergency procedures, including emergency C-sections initiated within 30 minutes of decision.
- Contribute to a positive patient experience within a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
- Current RN license, BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications required.
- Ability to attend orientation, complete competencies, and work independently in a fast-paced obstetric environment.
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year related obstetric nursing experience preferred.
- Specialized certifications such as AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring are preferred.
