Registered Nurse - Inventional Radiology - F/T Days

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Registered Nurse to function as a caregiver for a specific patient population, delivering effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. This role involves directing and overseeing care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination, while coordinating patient care and unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.

Responsibilities

A Registered Nurse delivers nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to ensure safe and excellent individualized patient care. Key responsibilities include:

• Assessment
  • Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
  • Performs age and disease-specific assessments independently and systematically, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.
  • Recognizes clinical and diagnostic changes in patient status.
  • Identifies patient/family education needs based on age, disease, and culturally specific learning differences.
• Planning
  • Develops a plan of care that prescribes strategies and interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Formulates age and disease-specific, patient/family-centered goals and outcomes based on assessment data.
  • Develops and coordinates a patient/family-focused plan of care, prioritized and encompassing the continuum of care.
• Implementation
  • Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care.
  • Provides ongoing communication with the patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members regarding patient status, care, and treatment plans.
  • Implements age and disease-specific care in an organized and timely manner.
  • Provides or coordinates patient/family education as needed and ensures understanding.
  • Performs according to established protocols in clinical situations, including communicating with appropriate persons and documenting events.
  • Delivers nursing care and treatments reflecting patient needs, advocates appropriately, and demonstrates evidence-based practice and compliance with standards.
  • Performs continuous Point-of-Care electronic documentation of assessments, plan-of-care, interventions, and evaluation of rendered care.
  • Administers medication utilizing bar-scanning and documentation technologies to ensure safe delivery.
  • Coordinates multi-disciplinary discharge of patients to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.
• Evaluation
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills based on nursing knowledge to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Initiates interventions related to changes in patient condition and unexpected responses to care.
• Additional Responsibilities
  • Identifies ethical issues in the practice setting and brings them to the attention of the team.
  • Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Acquires and maintains competencies, certifications, and continuing education to meet facility accreditation or individual licensing requirements.
  • Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
  • Lifts a minimum of 35 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
  • Adheres to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of an associate degree in Nursing or a diploma in Nursing.
• BSN in progress and/or willingness to acquire within three (3) years of hire (applies to team members hired on or after November 2019).
• For team members hired after June 1, 2021, BSN is required within five years of hire per union contract (CC456U, CC689U, CC891U). Advanced master's degree in nursing programs satisfy the BSN requirement (e.g., Associates to MSN).
• Six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, and demonstrate a strong sense of accountability for improving patient and caregiver lives.
• Exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and passion for delivering high-quality care based on patient focus.

Preferred Qualifications

• National Certification in area of specialty (preferred when eligible).

Licenses and Certifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
• BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.

Pay

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good-faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. The base compensation may vary based on factors including labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget or grant funding. The minimum hourly rate for this role is $46.25.

Certain positions may be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions include a comprehensive benefits package, such as health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
