Registered Nurse, Interventional Radiology, Full-Time, First

First UC Health is hiring a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Interventional Radiology department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The Interventional Radiology Nurse will support the Medical Center’s Radiology care at the Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and according to policy and procedures.

About the role

The Nurse will provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care of patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. This role offers the opportunity to work in both general body and neuro radiology, and to develop invaluable experience at a Level 1 trauma center.

Responsibilities

• Utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide culturally based and age-specific care to groups and individuals.
• Prepare, implement, evaluate, revise, and coordinate an interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in collaboration with healthcare team members and the patient/family.
• Communicate the plan of care to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care and establish priorities based on patient assessment and needs.
• Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment, involving them in assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care.
• Identify and respond appropriately to different patient needs, including behavioral health problems, psychological needs, or religious/cultural norms.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting unit needs.
• Accurately and concisely document the nursing process, including evaluation of treatment, in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
• Act as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floaters, and/or supplemental staff.
• Assume responsibility for personal professional development and contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
• Support effective use of staff and supplies while adhering to the Time and Attendance Policy.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree minimum required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
• Current Ohio RN License.
• Critical care or radiology experience preferred.
• Competency in radiation safety, principles and practice of sterile technique, and infection prevention.
