Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit - Per Diem/Pool

About the role

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible to oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification.
• Initiate culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
• Oversee any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensure its consistency with the medical treatment plan.
• Perform limited laboratory services such as patient identification, specimen collection, processing, quality control testing, and reporting test results.
• Document the assessment, plan, intervention, and evaluation of patient care activities according to standards, procedural guidelines, and organizational policy.
• Support performance improvement initiatives and provide leadership to other members of the patient care team.
• Participate in educational activities to assume responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
• Perform emergency room, trauma bay, intensive care unit, cardiovascular ICU, heart and vascular unit, telemetry, and operating room duties as required.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKG, and IV insertion as needed.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Nurses hired without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years.
• Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi-state license required.
• BLS required.
• Valid NJ Driver's License is required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs.

Specialty experience and advanced certifications:

• Emergency Room: ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer; PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer; PALS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer; ACLS required by 12/31/24 for all RNs in the City OR.
• Trauma Bay: Trauma experience required; ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire.
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU): ACLS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer; CCRN preferred.
• Cath Lab (cath lab holding, Electrophysiology (EP)): ACLS required at time of hire or transfer; PALS required within 1 year from date of hire or transfer.
• PACU/Same Day Surgery/ Recovery Room: ACLS required at time of hire or transfer; PALS required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
• Structural Heart: ACLS at time of hire or transfer; CCRN preferred.

Qualifications

Education/License:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multi-state license required.
• BLS required.

Skills

• Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
