Professional caregiver responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Intensive Care Unit. Utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination with the health team.
Position Details
Full time, 36 hours per week, day shift at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, Utah. Benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
- Assess: Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills. Evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, physicians, and support staff.
- Plan: Use assessment data and critical thinking to develop an individualized plan of care. Engage patients, families, and the healthcare team in planning, including education and follow-up referrals.
- Implement: Direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan, guidelines, and professional licensure. Manage priorities, time, supplies, and resources effectively.
- Evaluate: Assess patient response to interventions, including goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction. Revise the plan of care as needed.
- Professionalism: Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others. Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate documentation.

Requirements
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Valid compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of employment.
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers.
- One year of licensed RN experience required; two years in an ICU and/or high acuity setting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (required as of 4/27/2025 for new hires).
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see, read, and assess patient needs, including operating monitors and identifying equipment.
- Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including during emergencies.
- Manual dexterity for complex equipment operation, including computer use and medication preparation.
- Lifting and transferring patients, bending, retrieving, and carrying supplies/equipment of varying weights.
- Walking, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, navigating crowded/busy spaces.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Pay
Hourly range: $35.22 - $53.29, dependent on experience.
