Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care to all critical care/telemetry patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
- Affirms patient’s physical, social, behavioral, and mental status through direct observation, interview, and medical record review.
- Addresses patient’s needs by assessing from history and data collected by other members of the health team.
- Communicates findings with other members of the health team such as Social Worker, Case Managers, Therapist, and Physician.
- Identifies and addresses patient’s level of education and learning needs, making appropriate referrals to other disciplines and documenting same.
- Manages clinical skills in providing nursing care and managing the patient, including identification of symptoms, treatment modalities, administration of medications, and crisis intervention.
- Utilizes critical care skills in patient assessments and interventions, implements infection control procedures and protocols, and provides psychosocial support to critically ill patients.
- Ensures all procedures are performed based on established standards of care and demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within the scope of practice.
- Investigates and communicates all required information regarding unusual occurrences and patient care incidents, acting as a patient advocate.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two (2) years' Critical Care nursing experience required.
- Licenses, Certifications: Current NY State RN License, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
