Registered Nurse - Inpatient Rehab Unit
About the role
Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah provides specialized inpatient care for children recovering from complex medical conditions, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and spinal cord injuries. Our Harbor Rise Program delivers a structured, interdisciplinary rehabilitation environment focused on medical stability, functional recovery, and long-term outcomes—because at Nexus, we’re mending minds.
We are seeking Med/Surg and ICU-experienced Registered Nurses to join our Harbor Rise inpatient rehabilitation program, supporting pediatric patients recovering from life-altering neurological injuries.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to medically complex pediatric patients
- Monitor and manage patients transitioning from acute care to rehabilitation
- Support neurological recovery and functional progress
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and behavioral health teams
- Educate patients and families throughout the recovery journey
Requirements
- Active RN license (Texas)
- Med/Surg or ICU experience
- Pediatric, rehab, or neuro experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work within a structured, unit-based care environment
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an ICU nurse seeking a more sustainable, lower-burnout environment, a Med/Surg nurse with strong clinical fundamentals, or a nurse interested in neurological recovery and long-term patient outcomes. Clinicians who value consistency, team alignment, and unit ownership over constant floating are also a good fit.
