About the Role

As our Registered Nurse, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient, advancing modern nursing through compassionate care. You will promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, while demonstrating personal accountability for relationship-based care and our organizational mission.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records, and clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome.
  • Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
  • Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
  • Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response, and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
  • Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
  • Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (required).
  • RN License in state of employment (required).
  • Physical Requirements: Medium Work – exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • One (1) year of experience (preferred).

Penrose-St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. St. Francis Hospital opened in 2008 to meet the growing needs of the Colorado Springs community on the north side of the city. It features 340 beds and offers a modern Birth Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Level III Trauma Center, Imaging Services, Acute Inpatient Rehab, Surgical Services, and Critical Care Unit. It also serves as southern Colorado's home base for the Flight For Life Colorado air medical transport service. The organization has earned Magnet Hospital designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for superior quality in nursing care.

Pay

$33.15 - $59.67 per hour.
