About the Role

We seek a service-oriented full-time Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for ensuring optimal patient outcomes post-surgery in our Recovery Care Unit. The Registered Nurse directly contributes to patient recovery and well-being by assessing patients, executing treatments, and maintaining clear communication with providers, patients, caregivers, and hospital staff.

At our surgical specialty hospital, the 33-bed Recovery Care Unit is a vital component for the continuation of care for our surgical patients needing an overnight stay. On average, our patients stay 1-2 nights, where our dedicated team prioritizes a patient-centered approach to care. Responsibilities

  • Assess patients post-surgery to ensure optimal recovery and well-being.
  • Execute treatments and interventions as prescribed.
  • Maintain clear communication with providers, patients, caregivers, and hospital staff.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies using critical thinking and infection control knowledge.
  • Utilize proficiency in electronic medical records and technical competence in patient care.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, mentoring, and training new staff.
  • Participate in peer engagement activities and professional networking.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
  • Licensed in the State of South Dakota, or able to obtain upon hire.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required; can be obtained upon hire.
  • Diverse skills in emergency response, critical thinking, infection control, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and organizational skills.

Schedule

This position involves three 12-hour shifts per week, with every third weekend (partial weekends) and every third holiday. Shifts include both day (7AM-7:30PM) and night (7PM-7:30AM) rotations. In a 6-week schedule, you can anticipate working 2 weeks of nights (6 shifts).

Pay

Very competitive pay with a 15% night shift differential and a 10% weekend shift differential.
