Registered Nurse - Infustion

About the Role

Performs the primary functions of a registered nurse in assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities

• Supports the care of the patient and assesses and addresses the needs of the patient/family.
• Works collaboratively with other interprofessional team members to resolve patient/family problems, concerns, and issues.
• Collaborates with other departments to establish the patient/family treatment plan.
• Individualizes, implements, evaluates, or updates the plan of care and patient educational needs regarding vascular access.
• Completes intravenous insertion and assessment, including peripheral and central line access.
• Utilizes equipment such as point-of-care ultrasound and intravenous infusion pumps as appropriate.
• Demonstrates proper interpretation of department-specific policies and related laboratory results to safely manage patient needs.
• Implements, monitors, and records patient care and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Takes appropriate actions for unanticipated changes in patient condition.
• Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to access treatment and therapy plans.
• Applies evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing care, ensuring it is delivered based on patient’s age-specific and clinical needs.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
• Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling and running.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.

No prior experience required.

Required Licenses and Certifications

All States: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).

Illinois:

• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Missouri:

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration, or
• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a compact state.

Oklahoma:

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN), and
• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a compact state.

Wisconsin:

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, or
• Registered Nurse (RN) issued by a compact state.

Specialty Certifications (one of the following required):

• Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN) – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
• Anticoagulation Therapy Management Certification – University of Southern Indiana College of Nursing and Health Professions.
• Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider (CACP) – National Certification Board for Anticoagulation Providers (NCBAP).
• Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
• Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
• Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON) – Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).
• Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) – Infusion Nurses Certification Corporation (INCC).
• Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate (ONS/ONCC) – Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
• Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (ONS/ONCC) – Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
• Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate – Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
• INS Fundamentals of Infusion Therapy (FIT) certification – Infusion Nurses Society (INS).
• Vascular Access Certification (VA-BC) – Vascular Access Certification Corporation (VACC).

Schedule

• Day Shift.
• 40 scheduled weekly hours.
