About the role
The position is located on the Island of Oahu and involves General Duty and/or Clinical Nursing work, Public Health Nursing, or Alternate Situation positions.
Responsibilities
- Direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients in hospitals, infirmaries, sanitaria or similar health care facilities.
- Provide direct and/or indirect nursing care oriented toward maintaining health and preventing illness, as well as toward treatment and cure.
- Plan, organize and coordinate community and/or institution educational and consultative services relative to the specialized nursing techniques, methods and treatment services characteristic of a particular medical program.
- Assist nurses and program administrators in the development and improvement of nursing programs, policies and procedures.
- Supervise subordinate nursing and/or clerical personnel.
Requirements
- Licenses: License to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Hawaii.
- Experience:
- General Duty and/or Clinical Nursing work: 0 years.
- Public Health Nursing: 6 months - 2 years and 6 months.
- Alternate Situation positions: 1 year 6 months - 3 years 6 months.
- Specialized Experience: Professional work experience as a registered nurse, with public health nursing experience in the appropriate quantities shown in the table above.
- Administrative Aptitude: Demonstrated administrative aptitude, evidenced by success in regular or special assignments or projects which involved administrative problems, interest in administration, completion of educational or training courses in the areas of administration, and management's observation and favorable evaluation of the applicant's leadership and administrative capabilities.
Qualifications
- Master's degree and/or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of experience.
Skills
- Strong administrative aptitudes and abilities.
- Ability to plan, organize, promote, evaluate, control, and direct programs, including policy and budgetary considerations.
- Management skills to provide staff advice and assistance in such matters.
