ART 7 West is a specialized 23-bed adult inpatient unit dedicated to the care of patients receiving cellular therapies, including Bone Marrow Transplant, CAR-T, TIL therapy, and other advanced hematologic treatments, as well as those being treated for Malignant Hematology conditions. The team expertly manages patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transplantation, and those enrolled in clinical trials, providing close monitoring and personalized care throughout their complex treatment journeys.

All nurses complete the National Cancer Institute Collaborative Systemic Therapies Course within their first year to achieve chemotherapy competency, with ongoing opportunities for advanced cancer-specific education. ART 7 West strongly encourages specialty certification in oncology, cellular therapy, medical-surgical nursing, and palliative care, supporting professional growth while maintaining the highest standards of patient-centered care.

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care using the nursing process
  • Deliver safe and effective care to patients receiving cellular therapies, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transplantation, and clinical trial treatments
  • Manage complex treatment journeys for patients with Malignant Hematology conditions
  • Complete the National Cancer Institute Collaborative Systemic Therapies Course within the first year
  • Pursue specialty certification in oncology, cellular therapy, medical-surgical nursing, or palliative care
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve desired patient outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN degree within four years of hire
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross equivalent)

  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance, match or discriminate between colors, and determine distance/relationship between objects (continuous)
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities (continuous)
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (continuous)
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (continuous)

Hourly pay grade: Health-28

Schedule

  • Hours per week: 36
  • Scheduled work hours/shift: 3-12 hour shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Work shift: Rotating
