About the role

Responsibilities
- Assess and record patient status and identify care needs upon admission/point of care entry.
- Organize assessment health data accurately and accessibly.
- Identify immediate care needs and validate diagnoses with patient/family and health care team members.
- Document diagnoses in a way that supports the determination of expected outcomes and care plan.
- Initiate Problem List at admission and update as needed, incorporating age-specific care principles.
- Discuss discharge plan with patient/family and health care team members.
- Identify and document patient teaching needs on admission and throughout hospital stay.
- Arrange conferences with patient and/or family and other health team members when necessary to plan care.
- Prioritize and organize nursing interventions based on evidence and established standards of care.
- Provide individualized, evidence-based patient and family education.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Review consistently the patient’s health data to keep the Plan of Care updated.
- Affirm revisions to the plan of care are systematic and ongoing, driven by measurable realistic goals.
- Document patient’s progress towards identified outcomes.
- Identify unmet outcomes and provide direction for continuity of care.
- Reassess nursing actions for effectiveness in achieving desired outcomes.
- Communicate with patient/family and health care team members about patient care and nursing’s role in care provision.
- Collaborate with patient/family and healthcare team members on the patient’s progress/plan of care.
- Present relevant patient information at multidisciplinary meetings/conferences for feedback from peers.
- Make appropriate referrals as needed for continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Strong analytic abilities
- Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.
- Additional Requirements for the Emergency Room: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire
- Additional Requirements for the Pediatric Emergency Room: Pediatric Advanced Life Support TNCC within one year of hire
- Additional Requirements for Non-Invasive Cardiology: ACLS
- Preferred: Experience in specific clinical area
- Additional Preferences for the Emergency Room and the Pediatric Emergency Room: Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS), Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Certified Pediatric Nurse, Certified Emergency Nurse

Compensation
Compensation: USD 34.5 - USD 55.2 - hourly
